has closed the odds for betting on the Enron verdict, and if a
sportsbook is to be believed, things don’t look good for Messrs. Lay
and Skilling.
BetCRIS closed the betting at the following odds:
Will Kenneth Lay be convicted?
Will Jeff Skilling be convicted?
That means you’d have to bet $80 to make a buck betting on Lay
conviction; $100 to win $1 wagering on a Skilling guilty verdict.
Said BetCRIS
CEO Mickey Richardson: “This is possibly the biggest trial in business
history. Our clients were rushing to place their bets - and they were
only putting their money down on ‘guilty’. Given how the trial
progressed, the odds became so outrageous that bettors who wanted to
wager on Lay and Skilling’s conviction became upset when they were
quoted such a high price. At those numbers we thought it was best to
close the odds.”
