If gamblers are any indicator, things don't look good for former
Enron Corp. officials Kenneth Lay and Jeffrey Skilling. Betting site BetCRIS.com says it has closed its books on the trial because the betting was running so heavily for conviction.
The company said it closed the betting when the odds for Lay's
conviction reached 1 to 80 for guilty and 1.4 to 1 for not guilty. For
Skilling the odds reached 1 to 100 for guilty and 1.5 to 1 for not
guilty.
Jurors on Wednesday deliberated for a fifth day and, in a midday
note to the judge, asked for additional copies of a list of trial
exhibits and asked whether it was possible to see testimony transcripts.
