NASA NOT THE ONLY ONE PREDICTING THE ODDS OF SHUTTLE DISCOVERY'S LIFT OFF
The countdown to shuttle Discovery's Saturday launch officially
began yesterday, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration
is excited to kick off its first manned space flight in almost a year.
However, a cloudy weather forecast is causing doubts about whether the
shuttle will get off the launch pad - as NASA predicts a 60% chance
that thunderstorms will ground the shuttle.
NASA test director Jeff Spaulding said the weekend forecasts were
upsetting but also said it is too soon to assume Discovery will not
lift off this weekend. Even if the shuttle is grounded on Saturday,
NASA has a large window to lift off: The refueling and mandatory rest
time for the launch team would allow around 10 possible launch days
until July 19. If the shuttle can’t lift-off during that window, NASA
will try again in late August.
As a result, analysts at BetCRIS Sportsbook
have made predictions on whether or not the Discovery Shuttle will
launch on or before July 19th 2006. The site is seeing a surprising
amount of activity surrounding the bet.
Will the Discovery Shuttle launch on or before July 19th 2006?
"Space exploration is truly an extraordinary thing," said Mickey Richardson, CEO of BetCRIS.com.
